IDFC Institute is an independent, economic development-focused think/do tank that investigates the political, economic and spatial dimensions of India’s ongoing transition from a low-income, state-led country to a prosperous market-based economy. It provides in-depth, actionable research and recommendations that are grounded in a contextual understanding of the political economy of execution.

We funded IDFC Institute to set up the Data Governance Network, a collective of independent research institutions that create knowledge that can guide India’s data governance journey. Members of the network produce research papers, discuss them through quarterly roundtables, and organise events on India’s most pressing tech policy questions.
